This is a temporary visa which allows graduate students from Australian education providers to live, work and study in Australia.
There are 2 streams to be granted for Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485):
- Graduate Work Stream
- Post Study Work Stream
1. Graduate Work Stream
The Graduate Work Stream for those who graduate with eligible qualification. This includes graduates from Vocational Education and Training Sectors (VET). This visa is granted for 2 years from the date of grant.
Eligibility: To be eligible for grant of visa you:
- must be less than 50 years of age
- Currently hold student visa or held student student visa in the last 6 months
- must have nominated occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
- must provide skill assessment or provide evidence that you applied for Skill assessment for the nominated occupation by a relevant assessing authority
- must meet the English language requirement
- must meet the Australian Study Requirement in last 6 months
- Must provide Australian Federal Police clearance or provide receipt that you applied for AFP before the day the application was made
- must meet health and character requirement
- must have health insurance
2. Post Study Work Stream
For international students who graduate with a higher education degree from an Australian education provider in any field of study. This visa can be granted up to 4 years from the date of grant.
Eligibility: To be eligible for grant of visa you:
- have applied or granted first student visa to Australia on or after 5 November 2011
- must be less than 50 years of age
- must meet English Language requirement
- must meet Australian Study Requirement in period of 6 months ending immediately before the day the application was made
- must provide Australian Federal Police clearance or provide receipt that you applied for AFP before the day the application was made
- currently hold student visa or held student student visa in the last 6 months
- must have adequate arrangements for health insurance
- must meet health and character requirement
