This visa is a point based visa for skilled workers. You do not need to get sponsorship from employer or state or any relative. This visa allows you to live and work permanently in Australia.
Eigibility for Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
This visa is assessed on a point basis and to be eligible for this visa you:
- score at least 65 points in point test
- have your nominated occupation in Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- have a positive skill assessment in your nominated occupation from relevant assessing authority
- are under 45 years of age
- must have at least competent English
- must meet health and character criteria

How to apply for Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
First the applicant submits an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect online. When your EOI is accepted, you will be invited to apply for Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189). Once you will get invitation you have to lodge visa application within 60 days from the date of invitation received.
