
OSCA Corresponding Occupation: Radio Communications Technician – OSCA 314132
Note: Australia is transitioning to a new occupation classification system called OSCA (Occupational Skills Classification of Australia), which may be used for migration programs in future. Currently, ANZSCO remains the system used by the Department of Home Affairs for skills assessments and visa eligibility.
A Radio Communications Technician installs, maintains, repairs, and diagnoses faults in microwave, telemetry, satellite, multiplexing, and other radio/electromagnetic communication systems. These technicians support telecommunications networks across various industries and may require licensing depending on the state or territory.
• Installing, maintaining, repairing and diagnosing malfunctions in microwave, telemetry, satellite, multiplexing and other radio communication systems
• Configuring and integrating telecommunications technology with IT systems including hardware, software, peripherals and operating systems
• Recording logs, updating documentation, and maintaining communication standards, procedures, and compliance records
• Providing technical advice and monitoring performance of complex telecommunications networks
• Planning and developing customer access network infrastructure
• Liaising with vendors, service providers and suppliers, and ensuring contractual compliance
• Providing operational support including optimisation, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and network fault resolution
This group includes occupations responsible for the installation, maintenance, development and technical support of telecommunications and radio communication systems.

Qualification:
• Australia: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma
• New Zealand: NZQF Diploma
At least 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the qualification.
