This is a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia from 2 years to up to 4 years. This is the most commonly used program for employers to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia. You must be sponsored by an approved business.
Who can apply for this visa:
To apply for this visa you must
- be nominated by approved business sponsor
- be nominated to work in an approved occupation
- have two years of relevant work experience unless exempt
- have relevant qualification or experience necessary for the nominated position
- Meet English Language requirement unless exempt
- meet the health and character requirement of Australian Government
The TSS visa program is a 3 step application process:
- Standard Business Sponsor (SBS) application
- Nomination application
- Visa application
TSS Visa Streams
There are 3 different streams under applicable to TSS visa:
1. Short Term Stream
You can stay for up to 2 years or up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation (ITO) applies. Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 5 years.
To apply for this visa stream you must :
- Have occupation on the list of Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
- Have at least 2 years of relevant work experience
- Have a relevant skill assessment from Skill assessing body depending on your occupation and country of passport
- Meet minimum requirement English Language proficiency unless exempt
2. Medium-term Stream
This stream allows you to live and work up to 4 years. Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 5 years.
To apply for this visa stream you must :
- Have occupation on the list of Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
- Have at least 2 years of relevant work experience
- Have a relevant skill assessment from Skill assessing body depending on your occupation and country of passport
- Meet minimum requirement English Language proficiency unless exempt
3. Labour Agreement Stream :
In Labour Stream, skilled workers are nominated by employers who have labour agreement with the Australian government. This stream allows you to live and work up to 4 years. Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 5 years.
To apply for this visa stream you must :
- Be nominated to work in a specific occupation under terms and condition of Labour Agreement
- Have at least 2 years of relevant work experience unless exempt under labour agreement
- Have a relevant skill assessment from Skill assessing body unless exempt under labour agreement
- Meet minimum requirement English Language proficiency unless unless exempt under labour agreement
Pathway to Permanent Residency:
The subclass 482 visa may provide a pathway to Permanent Residency after 3 years through Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) subclass 186 visa.
