The registrations for the Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa ballot will open on Thursday, 4 June 2026, and will close on Thursday, 25 June 2026.
Australian Government has officially released the full details for the 2026-2027 Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa pre-application (ballot) process for India, China and Vietnam.
You only have a strict 3-week window to submit your registration for the 2026-2027 program year.
To successfully register in the ballot, you must meet the following criteria at the time of registration:
Note: The ballot process only applies to your first Work and Holiday Visa. If you are applying for a second or third subclass 462 visa, or if you are applying for the subclass 417 visa, you do not need to enter this ballot.

When registering, you must provide accurate details of your National Identity Card. If you are selected in the ballot, the details on your ID card must perfectly match the details on your visa application.
Once the registration window closes on 25 June 2026, the Department will begin randomly drawing registrations.
If you are lucky enough to be drawn from the ballot, the clock starts ticking immediately.
