Subclass 462 Visa Ballot – Eligibility

To successfully register in the ballot, you must meet the following criteria at the time of registration:

• Hold a valid passport from China, India, or Vietnam.
• Be between 18 and 30 years of age.

Once the registration window closes on 25 June 2026, the Department will begin randomly drawing registrations.

• The selection period will run from 2 July 2026 until 30 April 2027.
• Because the process is entirely automated and random, the Department will not accept requests to be selected on compassionate grounds.

What Happens If You Are Selected?

If you are lucky enough to be drawn from the ballot, the clock starts ticking immediately.

1. You only have 28 days to apply: You must lodge your full visa application through your ImmiAccount within 28 calendar days of receiving your selection email. The exact deadline will be on your notification letter.
2. You must be outside Australia: You can register for the ballot from anywhere in the world, but if selected, you must be outside Australia to apply for your first subclass 462 visa.
