
The Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES visa) is a new pathway that allows eligible Indian graduates and early-career professionals to live and work in Australia for up to 2 years.
This program is part of Australia–India Mobility Partnership, helping Indian professionals gain real-world experience in high-growth industries.
Only 3,000 places per year are available, and applicants must first register for a ballot before applying for the visa.
The MATES visa sits under the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa (Subclass 403).
It allows skilled Indian nationals to come to Australia without employer sponsorship, making it one of the easiest temporary work visas for young professionals.

To apply for the MATES visa, you must first register in the ballot and be randomly selected.
You must:
✔ Hold a valid Indian passport
✔ Hold a PAN Card (India)
✔ Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) when the ballot opens
✔ Not previously participated in the MATES program
✔ Have a valid email address
✔ Agree to all declarations
✔ Pay the AUD 25 ballot fee
✔ Not already be registered in another ballot round
You must have:
✔ Graduated on or after 1 November 2023
✔ A Bachelor degree or higher
✔ From a Top 100 institution in India (NIRF Overall 2024 list)
✔ In one of the eligible sectors:
👉 Affiliated colleges not in NIRF Top 100 do not qualify.
You must show proficient English, such as:
Equivalent tests (PTE, TOEFL etc.) are also accepted.
You must also:
✔ Show enough financial capacity to support your stay
✔ Have adequate health insurance
✔ Meet health and character checks
The ballot opens:
1 November 2025 — 14 December 2025
You can submit only one ballot entry per year.
