Key Highlights from the 6th March 2026 Round:

  • WA Residents Prioritised: For this round, 100% of the invitations for these non-trade occupations went to applicants who are currently living in Western Australia.
  • Healthcare is Highly Targeted: Healthcare professionals were exclusively invited under two specific pathways: the General Stream (WASMOL Schedule 1) and the Graduate Stream (Higher Education).
  • Only 6 Occupations in Graduate VET: The Graduate Vocational Education and Training (VET) stream was very selective this month. Only six occupations were invited: Architectural Draftsperson, Chef, Cook, Civil Engineering Draftsperson, TESOL Teacher, and Civil Engineer.
  • Trades & Hospitality Remain Strong: Points for Chefs varied significantly depending on the pathway. Under WASMOL Schedule 2, Chefs needed a massive 95 points. However, this dropped to 85 points for the Graduate VET stream, and an incredibly accessible 70 points for the Graduate Higher Education stream.
  • Teachers Are in High Demand: Education professionals continue to enjoy favourable cut-offs. Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Teachers needed just 70 to 75 points in the Graduate Higher Education stream, and a solid 80 points under Schedule 2.

Key Takeaways for Trade Occupations:

  • Only Two Streams Used: Trade occupations were only invited in the General Stream (WASMOL Schedule 2) and the Graduate Stream (VET).
  • Open to Everyone: Unlike non-trades, trade invitations were sent to applicants living in WA, interstate, and offshore (overseas).
  • Very Low Point Scores: The required scores are highly achievable. Most trade roles only needed 65 or 70 points.
  • Only 3 Trades in Graduate VET: The Graduate VET stream only invited three specific roles: Carpenter, Bricklayer, and Wall and Floor Tiler.
